Natura Pet Recall Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

Natura Pet, makers of Innova, EVO, California Natural, and Healthwise pet food recalled some of it’s products on March 18th, 2013 due to possible salmonella contamination.

If you feed your dog Innova, EVO, California Natural or Healthwise dog food, please view this press release from Natura Pet for complete details on the products being recalled.

The affected products were sold in bags through veterinary clinics, select pet specialty retailers, and online in the United States, Canada, Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Costa Rica. Product expiration dates range from 12/17/2013 – 1/2/2014. No other dry food, canned food, biscuits, bars or treats are affected by this announcement.

Salmonella can affect not only animals but people as well that could become sick after handling the contaminated products. Symptoms to watch out for include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Pets with salmonella may be lethargic, have decreased appetite and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea fever and vomiting.
